Soweto Forum

Soweto Community People’s Settlement Forum was formed in 2004 to allow members of the community to participate effectively in the slum upgrading project.   The Settlement Executive Committee (SEC) was supposed to be the slum upgrading liaison between the people of Soweto and the government, but the SEC was not communicating with the community nor representing their needs.  Soweto residents felt that they needed to start a community forum to start a dialogue between the community, the SEC, and the government.
